Italian Espri - Siddhi J Sundt - classical guitarist and sheet music publishing

The program is entirely dedicated to the Italian guitarist Ferdinando Carulli. His music is highly singable, dramatic, lyrical

      and varied in an absolutely wonderful way. He foreshadows Rossini with his wonderful melodies and his fantastic

      sense of sound. Carulli was born in 1770 (the same year as Beethoven but 22 years before Rossini).

      Carulli was one of the most influential composers for classical guitar and also the first to release a

      complete guitar textbook. During a twelve-year period, he managed to write more than 400 works for guitar - solo as well as concerts

      and chamber music. Carulli was also a prominent artist and virtuoso, although he first discovered the guitar in his

      twenties. His concerts in Naples (his hometown) became so popular that he soon began touring around Europe.

      Eventually, he settled with his French wife in Paris, where he remained for the rest of his life.
