Bachiana Upsaliensis - Siddhi J Sundt - classical guitarist and sheet music publishing

The Sundt / Emtell guitar duo consists of me and Anders Emtell, established guitarist and educator from Uppsala. Also active as a church musician in Vaksala parish.

The main part of the concert is devoted to Bach's 15 two-part inventions, arranged for two guitars by Siddhi J Sundt.

   

   

The inventions are written as small studies for Bach's students during his time as an employee at the court in Köthen. They are written for piano instruments but are played here in sounding key and pitch on two guitars, where one is equipped with extra bands to expand the register upwards and the other has to tune down the lowest string to reach the deepest notes.

   

The inventions are framed by three of Domenico Scarlatti's characteristic sonatas, arranged in the same way by both parties of the duo.

To give the audience a wider taste of the contemporary culture with Bach, we read some short and funny poems by contemporary Swedish poets.
