Humor in the music, is there? The term "serious music" seems to contradict this.
There are many obvious examples of musicians joking. Let me remind you of the legendary Hoffnungs concerts and Victor Borge!
Many composers have written obvious jokes in their compositions, such as. Mozart in his "Ein musikalischer spass", or Haydn's Surprise Symphony.
But there are also many examples of a more subtle humor that is sometimes more difficult to discover. It can be the musical motif in a composition in contrast to another - or the choice of instrument - or perhaps a comical change of key...
There is a musical headline that maybe more than other headlines announce that something comic can happen here: Capriccio.
This year's theme will be Capriccio!
